Johan made a good point the other day, after searching around for old farm receipts needed for tax purposes he asked why I didn’t have a shoebox set up for such a thing. What a great idea! So on our errand day in town we found a nice box set up for such a thing and I’m now realizing how badly we needed it and wonder if it’ll be big enough for the year to come..

I never really gotten down to the nitty gritty of it, but theres a lot of expenses in farming and running a small boarding operation, from farm animal feed, seeds, fertilizer, tools, gas, hay, you name it, it adds up quick, and I’m starting to wonder at this rate if we’ll break even.

Receipts

The silver lining of all this is trial and error, and not biting off more than you can chew, are the big important learning lessons. I’m finding pacing oneself is of the upmost importance, we’ve found using a monthly calendar and setting up daily/weekly goals on it to be a great focus point. And it also feels great to tick off the jobs done.
